Our Board

The board of Pomeroy Group is made up of experienced, independent leaders with backgrounds across hospitality, business, and governance. Together, they provide strategic oversight, challenge and support executive decision-making, and ensure the business remains accountable, commercially disciplined, and focused on long-term growth. Their role is to guide direction, uphold strong governance standards, and bring an external perspective that strengthens outcomes for clients, partners, and the wider industry.

James Pomeroy Dip.Bus., MInstD., APHRNZ., MRCSA..

Chief Executive Officer & Principal Advisor

With close to 15 years hospitality experience within high functioning leadership and governance roles, James is equipped to advise & manage any organisation with comprehensive advice to ensure long term success. 
He also leads our H.R. team with both end to end permanent recruitment & temporary recruitment. 

Outside the office, James holds a number of governance roles within hospitality, Arts, youth development and government. He is an active member of Human Resources New Zealand, Recruitment, Staffing & Consulting Association of AU&NZ, Restaurant Association and the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Sarah Van Der Sluys

Senior Advisor 

The epitome of a hospitality professional, Sarah has worked across the globe in roles in private manor houses, Michelin Star restaurants as well as highly successful cafes and bars. Her local & international experiences across People & Culture, training and best practice will enable you to set key processes with confidence in their impact. 

Sarah also owns a successful equestrian training & services business, VDS Equestrian.  Conveniently, she is also married to a multi award winning chef!

Phil Busch

Chief Information Officer & Advisor

Phil is a specialist in his field, having led organstiaional success with I.T. in both the Private & Public sectors. Understanding the importance of keeping critical data and sensitive information safe, he has set up a variety of systems to ensure yours, and our, data is never compromised.

Ahdiyeh Mahdavi BDes., BCom (Advt.Mgmt)., MBA (Marketing)

Marketing Manager

A creative at heart with a strategist’s mind, Ahdiyeh has spent over 10 years crafting campaigns, curating events, and connecting brands with people across borders. From large-scale festivals to community-focused projects, her work blends cultural insight with a clear purpose.

Now based in Christchurch, she is a PhD candidate in Marketing. Her research focuses on Hospitality and tourism, particularly examining identity in tourism and the culture of hospitality in New Zealand.
 
Outside of work, she’s often chasing new ideas, hidden travel gems, or trying new restaurants and cafes.

Jennie White

Administrator & Executive Assistant 

Having an extensive career traversing Legal Secretary, P.A., E.A. and Company Administrator roles, Jennie brings her broad  experience to the Pomeroy Group team. She also provides administration to our Advisory Board.
